About Learning Disabled Programs and Services

This school accepts Learning Disabled students according to the following definition:

According to the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities, a learning disability is a "general term that refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders manifested by significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or mathematical abilities." A learning disability is presumably due to central nervous system dysfunction, and is not primarily due to other handicapping conditions, environmental, or cultural influences. It is not a form of mental retardation, or an emotional disorder.

• Learning Disabled programs and services are limited to 40.
• There is no limit to the percent of students allowed into the Learning Disabled program.
• 154 application(s) for Learning Disabled programs and services were received in 1995.
• 70 applicant(s) for Learning Disabled programs and services were offered admission in 1995.
• 35 applicant(s) who were offered admission enrolled for the 1995 year.
• There were 111 students in the Learning Disabled program in 1995.

• SAT I is required.
• Diagnostic tests are required.
• A Child Study Team report is required if student is classified.
• Other: Learning Disabled program applicants must submit WAIS.
• A personal interview is required.
• Untimed tests are accepted.
• GED certification is accepted.

• Extra costs for Learning Disabled students are $3300 per academic year.
